| APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The application period for the 2012 Summer Program is now open. Applications for Summer 2012 must be received by January 15, 2012.
The program is seeking young singers with potentially large or unusual operatic voices.
PROGRAM LEVELS
Discovery Level Ages 15-17 inclusive (tuition fee $300; room and board cost approx. $1,500) This program is geared for the special needs of the very young student. Care is taken to help the young singer receive the most experience possible within the framework of a nurturing and protective but stimulating environment. One letter of recommendation is required.
Intermediate Level Ages 18-23 inclusive (no tuition fee; room and board cost approx. $1,500) At this level the emphasis is on raising the awareness of what conservatory students need to address in order to prepare themselves for their first apprentice and studio experiences. We take rank beginners with exceptional raw talent as well as those with considerable training. One letter of recommendation is required.
Advanced Level Ages 24-33 inclusive (no tuition fee; room and board cost approx. $1,500) At this level we help bridge the gap between apprentice and professional, both in skill level and professional connections. We have VERY limited openings at this level. To be considered for this program, applicants should already be at the level of a young artist program. Two strong letters of recommendation are required from recognized professionals. The rest of the application process is the same.
Young Professional Program Ages 27-36 inclusive (no tuition fee; room and board covered by Institute) This program is designed to meet the needs of the young professional who already has management and professional contracts. We have VERY limited openings at this level. To be considered for this program, two strong letters of recommendation are required from recognized professionals. The rest of the application process is the same.
Exceptions will be granted up to two years on age deadlines under the following conditions: Military duty Religious missions Peace Corps or comparable voluntary missions Unusual hardship with extenuating circumstances to be determined by the Institute. Rank beginners at the Intermediate level will have a two year grace period to catch up to the next level.

I. Two vocal recordings of your choice. Please label the file with your name and the title of the song. If you have any questions about how to do this, please email sagler@instituteforyoungdramaticvoices.org. Please DO NOT attach video files. However, we will accept links to videos on YouTube or elsewhere in lieu of a recording.
II. Short explanation (less than 300 words) of why you are interested in the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices and what your future music plans include.
III. One letter of recommendation (Discovery and Intermediate programs) or Two strong letters of recommendation from recognized professionals (Advanced and Young Professional programs)
PLEASE NOTE: Singers who participated in previous workshops do not need to send a recording, explanation, or a letter of recommendation, but should submit a new online application with updated contact information.
Selected singers will be notified by the end of February 2012 about live auditions to be held.
